Rustic Holiday House with Mountain View, AQ.C, BBQ and Wi - Fi - Near Filipino Bridge of Pedrógão Pequeno - 1979

Enjoy an escape to our house bordering Quinta, (which is a 3-hectare property surrounded by pine forests and orchards), on the outskirts of the small village of Sobreiro in the hills above the village of Pedrógão Grande and offers a pleasant balance between quiet seclusion and easy accessibility.

In the Leiria region of Central Portugal, on the new A13 expressway between Tomar and Coimbra, Quinta is a h40 drive north-east of Lisbon and 1 h40 hours southeast of Porto 35 min. Coimbra). As the Quinta is in the almost exact geographical center of Portugal, Pombal and Serta are close by, and it is an easy drive to visit UNESCO sites such as Alcobaça, Batalha, Tomar, Coimbra and Fátima, as well as Nazaré village and Praia do ocean, Óbidos, Busaco, etc.

The concept of the entire Quinta development is ecologically oriented.

Depending on the possibilities of each existing or future building, several ecological insulation techniques, materials and natural energy resources were used: a vegetalized roof, GEOTHERMIE, and / or solar panels.
Recently renovated, it will sleep 5 people, in 2 rooms, (child's bed available on request), each room with a standard double bed (an early 20th century polychrome, a Louis XVI). There is a bathroom with an antique porcelain bathtub with a shower and a copper sink, both with brass taps, and a separate toilet. For starry summer nights or a relaxing afternoon there is an "adventure" room covered with tents and with a single bed in the "Garden blanket" by Casa de Íris and lavender.

The house has a lounge-dining room with TV (80 channels) and a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, wall-mounted oven, refrigerator, cooking table, sink, dishwasher, and cabinets, microwave oven. where, electric teapot, toaster, dishes, glasses, cutlery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, electric heating, Dreamland double heated English controlled bed pads, kitchen, bed and bath sheets. The furniture is charming and eclectic, collected from my travels around the world.

A washer and dryer are also available in another building, and the house has its own private indoor parking, Tapes, DVDs and CD books in French, English and Portuguese are available for guests to enjoy.

The House is non-smoking, but guests can nip into the garden to take it away.

The House has a private terrace and 2 small private gardens, and offers a view of the Pavilhão da Quinta alongside the Chinese poets and the main Quinta gardens of 1400+ species and varieties of rare plants cataloged: ornamental bio vegetables and gardens of rare herbs, olive groves, fruit tree orchards, flowering trees, rare shrubs and perennials, created with the well-known author landscape and garden architect, Alain Richert. (In France, on my husband's family estates at the Château de Thoiry 78,770, and the Chateau du Colombier en Aveyron, 12330, the gardens we have restored and created together have been labeled 'Jardin Remarquable "by the French Ministry of Culture.)

The Quinta is about 10 minutes by car from the lake beach of the dam of the river Zêzere, and the same to the charming river island beach Mosteiro, and about half an hour to the river beach specially amenaged in Castanheira de Pera. The area is included on the scenic Schist Route, and offers many pleasant walking and cycling paths and routes. Pedrógão Grande, 10 minutes away has an indoor tennis court, exercise gym, many shops, cafes, banks, post office, 2 small supermarkets, a weekly Monday morning general market fair, hairdressers, restaurants and church, etc. There is also a large Saturday morning market in the vicinity of the town of Figuiero dos Vinhos.

For those who prefer to avoid holiday shopping trips, Sobreiro benefits from daily bread hamper and pastry truck delivery and the weekly pass of fresh fish and meat suppliers, so you can lean back and relax, enjoy the fresh air of the aroma of pine, birds singing and watching butterflies fly.

The Quinta have appeared on Portuguese national television (TV SIC), in several newspaper articles and Portuguese and French web news. The Quinta is also featured in the beautiful French art book "Jardins d'histoire e sans histoire de la Comtesse de La Panouse", thanks to Bettina de Cosnac, Editions Monelle Hayot, France.

The garden is fully bio and guests can buy freshly picked bio herbs, fruits and vegetables on site
(including many rare varieties not commonly available even at specialty grocery stores.)
We also have our own olive oil, grape juice, homemade fruit liqueurs, jams, jellies, preserves and chutneys.

Upon request, upon reservation, Fátima Antunes can home cook a delicious typical Portuguese lunch or dinner.

Guests can also enjoy an original themed guided tour and expo: "The Making of a Garden" about the existing and ongoing ecological creations and goals of the Quinta.
